Acqualina Resort and Spa
Nestled along the appropriately named Sunny Isles, a luxurious stretch of Miami’s famous beach front, is Aqualina Resort and Spa. This isn’t an ordinary resort and spa; it’s decadent, pristine and offers an array of delectable options for its clientele. It’s the type of resort and spa that becomes a destination in itself, attracting those seeking luxurious pampering.
The resort, situated on 4.5 acres of Miami’s prime Riviera, features 188 residences, 97 impeccable hotel rooms and suites and world-class luxury hotel amenities, plus two oceanfront restaurant and three oceanfront swimming pools. Elegance itself comes here for a luxury retreat.
The award-winning spa is run by and named after the renowned ESPA group based in Europe. The products, design and practitioners all cultivate a natural and calming experience for the client. No corners are cut or steps skipped to ensure a truly relaxing experience. When you first step foot into the calming environs of the spa, you are greeted by calm and professional staff and offered a fresh mango smoothie and hot towel scented with eucalyptus. A lovely and refreshing way to start the spa journey.
The changing room themselves are also the epitome of luxury. The area is large and soothingly lit as you slip into the soft robes and slippers that are available for all patrons. At any time in your treatment journey you can partake in the sauna or steam-room, and if you get too warm you can cool off with eucalyptus scented towels that sit beside an ice fountain. There is a second area, with well-padded recliners, where you wait to be called for your session as you sip hot tea or flavoured water.
Facials at the spa run for 60 minutes and are completely customized to the individuals needs. The service rooms are illuminated in mood lighting, and equipped with a comfortable seating area for the consultation portion of the procedure. The facial itself is part educational, part utterly indulgent. The practitioner spends a good amount of time under a UV lamp ensuring the client is aware of all the trouble spots needing extra care.
The massage room also has a seating area for consultation, in which you discuss with the therapis any concerns or problem areas, as well as select which of a number of scented oils (from refreshing and rejuvenating to calming) you prefer. The therapist leaves the room as you sink into probably the most well-padded massage table I’ve ever come across. Once situated, the therapist returns to the room and, before starting, gently taps a gong, officially marking the start of the treatment, and once again at the end. In between, the therapist, with a firm yet gentle hand, works her magic, relieving stress and knotted muscles.
