30 Days of Local Wine is Back! Suresh Doss 30 days of local wine started last year with an initiative. A challenge to drink only Ontario wines for 30 days. We took the challenge, and documented the process in a month long feature. We played on the initiative, exposing the culture of local food and wine in Ontario. The result was a highly successful mashup of collaboration articles, food and wine pairings, local wine events, tweetups, and even a few wine videos. 30 days of local wine is back this year, and once again we’ll be putting the focus on the wines, wineries and the various personalities behind them. A stellar line up complimented by a ton of local food and wine content by some of our favourite local bloggers.. |

| Brick Works, More Than A Market Lauren Simmons Citizens of Toronto have driven past the complex of derelict buildings that is the Don Valley Brick Works for years. When we heard there was a Farmer’s Market being held there on Saturdays starting about three years ago, we jumped at the chance to get local farm-fresh produce closer to uptown. Nature lovers have enjoyed exploring the beautiful paths and wetlands that sprawl through the Don Valley behind the buildings, and foodie folk have loved all the exciting events that have used to the space such as the Slow Food Picnic.. Conscious Food Festival Lauren Simmons Torontonians seems to be increasingly interested in eating local and supporting agriculture, and so it was only a matter of time before someone took advantage of this newfound passion and threw a party around it. Last weekend, Fort York played host to the Conscious Food Festival, organized by a team who also brought us the Festival of Beer and the Wine & Spirit Festival. My view from the afternoon was that this event was not so far removed from the beer tents and mini-burgers of many a typical weekend food/drink fest.. Read More |

Lunching with Lauren Lauren Simmons Kale Organic Eatery opened in the winter and immediately caught our attention for bringing the pay-by-weight salad bar phenomenon to uptown, an area as full of yoga pants and picky eaters as Yorkville to the south.
