One Of A Kind Show 2008

Over the last few years, the one of a kind show has evolved from a basic craft and art showcase into a mecca of creative expressions, artistic and culinary. Evolving, the show has many green initiatives with more emphasis on sustainable product engineering. Most of my friends know that this festival is one of my favourite events in the city. I could spend hours wandering through every aisle and be inspired by various shapes and colours. Actually, that’s what pretty much what I did this morning. The most comprehensive scoop to this year’s show, right here… Continue Reading »

Newmindspace – New heights

Posted by Nina on November 26th, 2008

Newmindspace is interactive public art, creative cultural interventions and urban bliss dissemination based in New York and Toronto. Their latest project night lights: higher had the group create a string of dazzling lights that was, ultimately, higher than the CN Tower. Liftoff was accidentally achieved at 10:30 PM after many hours of dedicated balloon inflation, LED construction and freezing in the cold, as volunteers watched the lights drift above the world’s tallest freestanding glowstick.

Before this unplanned liftoff, it reached higher than Manulife Centre, the tallest building in Yorkville. The recovered LEDs (most of them) will be used for a top secret December installation that will be publicly viewable for about two weeks.

Here is a video of the event:

Chipotle Mexican Grill - Lunches

Chipotle Mexican Grill Toronto

Within reason, discerning palates in Toronto can agree that some restaurants are more ‘authentic’ or ‘loyal’ to the cuisine they represent than others. Well, as authentic as WE think it is because what do we know anyway? Living in a multi-cultural city doesn’t necessarily make you an expert on the varieties of cuisine, and nor does that 2 week trip you took to Indonesia. Nevertheless, we have plenty of pride, and we crave ‘authenticity’. If there’s one cuisine that has been criticized for lacking ‘authenticity’ in this city — it is of course — Mexican. Recently one of America’s popular burrito chains opened up, and a group of us have been stopping by for lunch regularly. Authentic or not, it is quite tasty… Continue Reading »
