Walking into the Bathurst Street location of Nella Cucina is like walking into an Aladdin’s Cave for foodies. You will find everything you could possibly need for your kitchen and I challenge you to walk out of empty handed!

The store has two floors full of kitchen equipment and supplies for the professional as well as the home cook and a culinary school with a gorgeous kitchen/studio where kids, the home chef and even corporate groups can take classes and workshops. Established over 50 years ago as Nella Cutlery when George Nella began supplying knife sharpening services and equipment to Ontario restaurants out of a Mississauga warehouse, Nella has evolved to meet the needs of a population increasingly interested in pursuing the culinary arts. Still very much a family affair with George continuing to sharpen knives, and Marisa, George’s wife and Rob and Mark, their sons actively involved in the day-to-day running of business, Nella is a place where both the home cook and culinary pro can happily shop side by side.

Nella continues to offer a knife-sharpening service – simply drop your dull blades at the Bathurst St location and come back for them in a week (the sharpening services remain in Mississauga).  They also offer a “knife exchange” programme for commercial establishments (wouldn’t that be nice – having newly sharp knives every week?).

Nella Cucina opened in 2004 as the retail and commercial face of their Mississauga operation to better serve the ever-growing population of cooks and food enthusiasts looking to fill their home kitchens with fabulous restaurant-quality equipment.  Since then, it’s grown into a meeting place where foodies can shop, learn and connect in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere – a place where you can learn from the chefs who shop there. Nella also offers a customized gifting service – perfect for corporate holiday giving, wedding parties or bonbonnières – as well as a gift registry.

Browsing their list of upcoming classes, you will find something to suit any interest, skill level or age.  From cottage entertaining to kids’ classes with an international flavour, you are sure to find something that takes your fancy.  Nella offers Basic Skills, Hands-on, and Demonstration classes, Workshops and private lessons as well as corporate team-building events and private events (parties, reunions, bridal showers and stag parties).  Nella’s impressive lineup of chefs will help move your skills in the kitchen to the next level.

Whether you are a home cook or a foodservice professional, Nella most definitely has all your needs covered – and then some.  Go in, browse around, don’t be afraid – the knowledgeable, friendly staff is happy to answer all your questions. Your first visit won’t be your last!
