The second season of Top Chef Canada came to a dramatic close as Toronto-based chef Carl Heinrich won the coveted title.
Carl and a small army of his fans gathered at The Sister pub in Parkdale to watch the second season finale of Top Chef Canada. In the last episode, the former chef of Marben restaurant (currently working on a new concept in the downtown core) defeated chefs Jonathan Korecki, Trevor Bird, and David Chrystian in a nail biting finishto grab the title of Top Chef Canada.
“Winning Top Chef Canada is a dream come true,” says Carl Heinrich, Top Chef Canada season two winner. “Being a part of this competition has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences in my life. It’s an honour to have my passion and commitment for food rewarded in this way and to be included in such an elite group of chefs. Big thanks to everyone who has supported me in my journey."
Carl left Marben in February of this year to work on a new (yet-to-be-announced) restaurant in the city's financial and entertainment district. There are also rumours that Carl will be one of the guest chefs at the upcoming Savour Stratford festival, which takes place in September (Top chef contest Connie DeSousa was a part of last year's festivities).
