Vintages Taste Ontario 2012 Event – Win Tickets

One of the premier Ontario wine 'taste and buy' events is back again, this year at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Hosted by Vintages, this year's edition will feature over 100 wines from 33 Ontario wineries. Interested in going? We've got tickets for you.
The annual local wine celebration, dubbed 'Taste Ontario' has always been something we look forward to during 30 Days of Ontario Wine in September. Last year we published two shopping guides based on what was available at the event (expect the same this year). Over 30 wineries from all three Ontario applelations and even some emerging new wine regions will be at this year's show and showcasing some of their best juice for you to taste.
New wineries that will be at this year's event include:
- Burning Kiln Winery
- Bachelder Wines
- G. Marquis Vineyards
A full list of wineries and wines that will be present at the event can be found on the Vintages site.

I recently threw a very important dinner party and served Flat Rock’s Pinot Noir. A bit of a splurge for me but my guests loved it. Forgoing the Tawse Reisling I had paired with dessert, all of my guests opted for another glass of Flat Rock’s Pinot Noir (it was a cool late summer evening.) The next day as I cleaned up, I enjoyed the Tawse Reisling and some kitchen dancing.
Went on a wine tour of Niagara and came back with more wine then I probably should have purchased, although I am all stocked for the fall/winter now. The wines that really stood out to me were:
ANGELS GATE SUSSRESERVE RIESLING VQA
PILLITTERI GEWĂśRZTRAMINER/RIESLING VQA
KONZELMANN WINEMASTER’S COLLECTION LATE HARVEST GEWĂśRZTRAMINER 2008
I don’t think anyone can do Riesling or Gewurztraminer like Ontario. Simply the best.
The photo in your article showing Martin Malivoire pouring his wines reminds me of a stellar 1999 Malivoire Old Vines Foch that we pulled out of the cellar recently. This magnum was an eye-opener – I think the oldest Foch that I’ve ever had, and still has years ahead of it, I believe. Luckily, I still have more (but don’t tell anybody)!
